Description

So I've been wanting to do fanart for the movie Repulsion for at least a year now, and I've just now finally produced something I'm happy with :dummy:

Anywho, Repulsion is the story of young woman named Carol, a manicurist who shares an apartment with her sister in London. Carol appears well-adjusted (albeit a bit quiet) but inside she is plagued with fear, paranoia, and a big dose of sexual frustration and repression. When her sister leaves on vacation for a few weeks, Carol's madness consumes her and she barricades herself in her apartment. Those who insisted on visiting her during this time met with unfortunate demises (Though, honestly, they totally deserved it, especially that scumbag landlord :iconnotimpressedplz:)

I did my best to incorporate as much key imagery as I could into this piece (i.e. The straight razor, the cracked walls, the disembodied hands... and the rabbit. The actual rabbit in the movie wasn't so cute though. In fact, it was dinner... Dinner that was never cooked and just rotted away on the counter. Such a waste of good meat :noes: :XD:)

Cute work on how you did this tribute to Polanski's crazy chiller in your chibi style, also has a creepy feel to your piece because how the madness isn't without Carol. Kinda odd seeing you've added in a cute rabbit to the piece since you've mentioned about the dinner she didn't eat in the film, but fits all right. :)

I've just re-watched it for the first time in many years and actually enjoyed it (officially one of my huge favorites now). Used to didn't get much into it after the first viewing in 2007, but thanks to my brother who suggested me to re-watch it since he bought it on Criterion Blu-Ray little while back as we were talking about it. The film took some time to get into, but got better when the real horror started (terrified me for the first time for real as I was re-watching it). I loved Catherine Denueve's performance as Carol and it was well done by Polanski for which he would later return to the apartment setting in both Rosemary's Baby and The Tenant of course. Talk about a perfect start for watching horror films for this month's Halloween (I mean because the holiday's coming up XD). Now I need to re-watch The Tenant (his most underrated out of three) since I've already re-watched Rosemary's Baby last month. :D

Also nice to see someone who's done a good fan art piece for this redefining classic British psychological thriller around this site, too. :la:
